A long dress that’s slit to the thigh is like a glass half full. It’s the silence between the notes. Take a dress like this, artfully captured in motion by Giang Cao of t-t-l-g: aside from it’s rich blue colour, it’s transformed by a little break in the fabric. If we imagine, for a moment, a short dress cut just above the knee, it probably wouldn’t make us look twice. It’s the glass half empty. But a dress with a split to that same above-knee level is something different entirely. There’s more fabric, we see less, but it’s a curtain-peep that prompts any brain to want to fill in the mysterious gaps for itself.
That’s the sensuality that happens when more is left to the imagination.
