Backwards and crowned in Paris

It’s like something you might see crowning the Madonna in a holy painting: a headpiece that haloes the head in a sunburst of metal spikes. In the same vein as the ones we saw on the Taralis runway, these are the kind of accessories you can’t help but pay attention to. The wearer in these shots – photographed outside the Balmain show at Paris fashion week – tells me her headpiece and sunglasses are by Korean label PushButton. Making the outfit extra-interesting and unique: a shirt worn backwards. There’s a styling idea to try at home.

Playing with prep

Yellow and blue almost always make stunning combination. The same holds true for combining sporty and preppy pieces just as long as you don’t overdo it. Take this a look at this street style look spotted in Paris.

The yellow Lacoste sweatshirt added a much needed twist to this look. Without this burst of color and the sportiness of the shirt the whole ensemble would’ve been a little too ordinary; button down shirt, jeans and all. Working well with the sweatshirt is the clutch and the strappy heels. Who said you can’t wear sweats with heels?

Feeling blue

If there is one thing we all need to invest in for winter, it’s a chic statement coat – a single piece that you can wear during the transition from summer to autumn to winter and back to spring. This street style look taken during London fashion week back in September and is one perfect example of such a transseasonal statement.

The look is very simple: a mini skirt and a top sit under a midnight blue coat whose big buttons and exaggerated collar contrasts with tanned legs. And all of it is capped off with a pair of colour-matching socks and black, ballet flats.
