You know someone oozes cool-factor when they can shun the traditional race wear and still steal the spotlight at the race marquee. No hats required for Bambi Northwood-Blyth, whose only accessories at Saturday’s Caulfield cup were a masculine wristwatch and boyfriend Dan Single; her ultra-cool hairstyle knotting its way down the centre of her head like a horse’s mane, a solitary hint of equestrian theming in an outfit that broke convention in all the right ways.
Under one of Burberry Prorsum’s covetable mod fall 2011 coats, Bambi’s Ksubi minidress was panelled in complimentary colours: khaki green, a soft chambray blue, and a leopard print. Adding height and an added dash of sex-appeal to the outfit was a pair of skyscraping Burberry Prorsum platform heels.
While the word adorable no doubt sprung into all our minds as Bambi quietly outshone racegoers all throughout the David Jones marquee, the strongest factor wasn’t just her off-duty model appeal; it was the reminder that dressing to suit one’s self – and not just the occasion – is a must.
